William Hammett, Independent Ghostwriter and Editor

Ghostwriting Overview (or, What Many Freelance Writers Won't Tell You)

If you want to beat the odds...Thousands of writers collect rejection slips every year because they submit manuscripts that do not have the competitive edge. If you want to beat the odds, you need a great product that raises the eyebrows of an agent or editor as they read your opening paragraphs.

If you expect your manuscript to stand out, you also need a ghostwriter (or editor) who knows the literary marketplace. You need a writer who knows what agents and editors are looking for. Hundreds of freelancers will offer to write your book, but they do not have the experience or expertise to write it in a way that addresses the needs of the publishing industry.

I make your project a priority ...Too many ghostwriters today are moonlighters. Many juggle projects, but few professionals worth their salt attempt to write more than one book at a time. The ghostwriter you choose should make your project a priority.

Ghostwriting companies use glitzy ads that claim their clients have become bestselling authors because the companies are based in New York City. The truth is that most companies subcontract work to freelance writers all over the country, most of whom do not have solid credentials. The companies are essentially brokers and do not oversee the writing.

... I'll do it right.Clients have shown me work done by various companies and individuals. Most of it is filled with errors and reveals a complete lack of competence. There are some great writers out there, but choose them carefully. If you hire me, I’ll do it right.
